I was born in Vicenza, a city steeped in Italian Renaissance beauty and famously shaped by architect Andrea Palladio – a legacy that earned it UNESCO World Heritage status in 1994. In the 1980s, I moved to Florence, where I studied at the International School for Translators and Interpreters, before embarking on a journey that would deeply influence my art and worldview.
My time in the United States – first in Palo Alto, then Oklahoma City, and finally the Berkeley Bay Area—was transformative. Although my professional path led me into the corporate world, working for multinational companies in the beverage industry, it was the striking natural landscapes of the American Southwest that reawakened something much deeper in me. The vivid skies and earthy palette of Arizona’s Grand Canyon and the soulful beauty of Santa Fe, New Mexico, stirred a long-dormant desire to create.
Despite having shown an early gift for drawing as a child, my artistic side remained unexplored for many years. With no formal training and purely self-taught, I began to paint—first with watercolors, then oils, and now, almost exclusively, acrylics. I also incorporate textured materials such as plaster, pastels, and natural elements into my work, gradually evolving my style from classical beginnings to a more abstract and material approach.
Native American art and jewelry were among my earliest and most enduring sources of inspiration- the rich tones of coral red, turquoise, lapis lazuli, green jasper, and copper continue to echo throughout my paintings. These colors became my vocabulary, helping me reinterpret both real and imagined landscapes, and telling stories of the many places I’ve seen and lived in.
Now based in Varese, near the Lake District of northern Italy, I continue to paint with the same passion and energy I felt when I first picked up a brush. At 60, I feel more inspired than ever-driven by the desire to explore, to express, and to share. I regularly participate in both solo and group exhibitions, always seeking new ways to connect with others through my art.
For me, painting is more than a craft—it’s my language. Each canvas is a way to express who I am, to leave a trace, to give meaning to this brief journey through life.
As Marc Chagall once said, “Colour is all. When colour is right, form is right. Colour is everything, colour is vibration like music; everything is vibration.”
This deeply resonates with me. Colour is always the starting point—it moves me before any subject or idea takes shape. I begin every work with a neutral base to calm the vastness of white, then let the energy of bold colours guide me. From deep reds to vibrant orange, golden yellows, turquoise, blue, and violet—each painting is a celebration of strong, emotional tones.
My medium of choice is acrylic paint, often enriched with textured materials such as plaster, chalk, oil pastels, sand, wool, or linen. These elements add dimension and depth, creating tactile surfaces that invite closer reflection.
Much of my work is abstract, inspired by the places I’ve lived, travelled, and loved. Nature, landscapes, and flowers frequently appear—translated not through realism, but through feeling and memory.
All paintings are ready to hang, with finished edges that don’t require framing—unless you prefer to add one.
I create custom paintings commissioned specifically for you, perfectly matched to the colors and style of your home
